Hey there! I'm Sebastian Liste. 

I have spent 20 years building a career in documentary photography from scratch, with no income, no network, and no clear path to making meaningful work financially sustainable at the start.

My work has been published in National Geographic, TIME, and the New York Times, and exhibited across five continents, in museums, galleries, and photo festivals. I am a Leica Ambassador and a member of the agency NOOR Images.

I have received grants from the Pulitzer Center, the Magnum Foundation, and the Getty Foundation. I have been awarded World Press Photo, the Alexia Grant, POYi, and others. More than 250,000 dollars in grants from the most respected institutions in photography.

Separately from grants and institutional recognition, I have built a six-figure career as a working documentary photographer through assignments, licensing, commissions, print sales, and aligned partnerships. Not from teaching. From the work itself.

I have also spent 15 years mentoring documentary photographers. I know exactly where serious photographers get stuck, because I have seen it happen hundreds of times. And because I lived it myself.

This challenge is built from that experience. Every element of it.
